Two Nigerian Technology prodigies, Bolaji Akinsanya, and Favour Afenikhena, have developed softway, a software that turns Android phones to point of sale (POS) tecriminals.

In an exclusive interview with Platforms Africa, the partners declared that their vision was to “make contactless payments the default mode for businesses across Africa by unlocking the payment power of smartphones.”

Softway Finance, a Nigerian fintech company, according to the Akinsanya and Afenikhena, is “transforming how businesses accept payments by turning any Android smartphone into a secure contactless POS terminal with no extra hardware or terminal needed.”

Stating that the product “enables merchants, SMEs, and service providers to accept card payments easily, affordably, and anywhere,” Akinsanya added that his fintech startup has “a mission to make payments truly contactless and hardware-free for millions of African businesses. Our flagship solution, Softway SoftPOS, transforms any Android smartphone into a secure, tap-to-pay POS terminal — no extra POS terminal, no hardware, no extra cost.”

Corroborating Akinsanya’s view, his partner Afenikhena, continued; “In just six months since launch, Softway Finance has onboarded hundreds of active merchants, processing thousands of secure payments monthly. Our goal is to drive widespread adoption of affordable, frictionless contactless payments and help move Nigeria’s cash-heavy economy into a digital-first future.”
